There are 7 species of these marvellous creatures. Watching them in the water gives me a feeling of tranquillity.
Despite being marine animals, they lay their eggs on the shore. Then, raccoons, foxes, and seabirds raid their nests, or hatchlings may be eaten within minutes of hatching as they make their initial run for the ocean.
So, it is said that only 1 in 1000 marine turtles make it to adulthood, but take that number with a pinch of salt. It is, however, a low number of them that survive.
